Day 7.
The grumps have passed. I’m feeling better today. Not because of the master cleanse. What was different today was me being a lot busier. Many people are reluctant to do the master cleanse when working. I think it’s a much-needed distraction. The master cleanse can be tediously solipsistic. Sure, the salt water flush can be a nuisance, but having the bulk your day dictated by the needs of others is mostly a blessing. That’s a becoming a major theme in this cleanse; personal responsibility. Beyond the initial decision, the master cleanse is a very simple, strict regime. You don’t need to think. It’s a short-term healthy lifestyle that takes barely any effort. And because of that, there’s a huge danger that after the cleanse you’ll be overwhelmed by having to make several choices a day about what to eat. So does the master cleanse make you vunerable to a relapse into poor living?
On the flipside, the master cleanse could be empowering. If you’ve lived a particularly unhealthy lifestyle for a long time before, the master cleanse could very well show you that you’ve got control over your body, that it’s a lot easier to go without food than you once thought and it’ll give you confidence to go on and improve.
For me, it’s a bit of both. That’s why I’m spending a lot of time during the master cleanse labouring over my post-cleanse diet plan. That will take the pressure off when having to eat; I’ll automatically know what I’m eating and I’ll have no excuse about not having good food in the house. But the diet is a regime and it does supplant choice. Still, I think it’s a pragmatic approach, and it’s not without thought. I simply put most of the thinking at the start.
So, one week done! Easier than I thought it would be. I’m a little frustrated at this point. Like I said yesterday, the cleansing postives have petered out and now I can’t wait to be eating so I can exercise properly. I’m not getting any protein on the cleanse so I can’t lift weights because my muscles will take longer and are open to strains. I want to get on with it!
Hey, haven’t had a chance to read your whole blog, but I’m going to fave you on technorati so I can come back and read it. I only see 7 days, did you finish up the diet? I’m on my 5th day right now, and I’m keeping a blog over on blogspot. Hope it went well!
Thank you for sharing your experience with the body cleanse.. and for the laughs!!
I have to say, I decided to try this today, my daughter (16) has been hounding me for a while to give it a shot…
Ok.. so I did the 38 oz of salt water flush… Well, it was unpleasant, but I did manage to get it down within an hour. I was pretty thirsty after drinking all that salt water, and couldn’t wait to get started with the lemon drink.
I slugged back about 7 oz of lemon drink, and as soon as I stopped drinking, I needed to get sick. The cayanne pepper burned my throat, and the after taste of the maple syrup actually made me barf!
I have no problem with fasting for 10 days… But there is no way in HELL I can get that lemon crap down my throat anymore!!!
I’m not sure how badly I am going to screw this up, but I’ve decided to drink the salt water flush, (as normal) but I am going to OMIT the cayanne and maple syrup…. That shit just aint going down!!!
I’m looking for other diets that will work, without using the pepper and maple syrup… I’ve read where people actually do the salt water cleanse and just drink plain water for 10 days….
I welcome any comments!!
Cheers!
